<< Question #SG040 - Lip gloss color for whiter teeth

Do you know any lip gloss kind of nude but gives you mostly shine to your lips...and makes your teeth look whiter? - Carla, St. Helier

>> Answer #SG040 - Lip gloss color for whiter teeth

Nude is not enough color contrast to make your teeth look whiter. You need to use darker shades to get that effect. Stay away from any hues that are purplish or blue-toned. They will make your teeth look more yellow. Choose instead tones with green or yellow, such as rust tones. Sounds surprising, but there is sound reasoning behind it. Works the same with eye color. If you have hazel eyes, and you want your eyes to look more green--do NOT wear green eye shadow. Wear brown. If you wear green shadow, your eyes will look more brown. - Ed

<< Question #SG041 - Makeup tips

I'm not too sure what style of makeup would look best on my facial features. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
Thanks =-D, Gainesville

>> Answer #SG041 - Makeup tips

We're so sorry, but we don't post links to images in this forum. However, our staff took a look at your photos, and we concurrently agreed--you don't need advice. You've already got it exactly right. We took a very close look at your eyebrows: shape & color; lips: colors used & shaping; eyes: liner, color, amount; skin: color, base & blush. We had no suggestions--we can't improve on perfection. Don't start changing things just because you are bored...please. It would be a big mistake.

<< Question #SG042 - Serums & Moisturizers

Do you apply a (fine line and wrinkle) serum over your moisturizer, under your moisturizer or by itself? I recently bought a skin care system and with it came a serum for fine lines and wrinkles. the directions say to use on problem areas. Just wanted to know how to use it correctly. - Dominique, Fort Wayne

>> Answer #SG042 - Serums & Moisturizers

As a rule, the serum goes on first, as the moisturizer would block the serum from entering the skin. As to whether you can put the moisturizer over the serum, that depends on the manufacturer and whether they are formulated to be used together. Many are, some aren't. To be safe, for now, use the serum overnight and the moisturizer during the day. Contact the manufacturer for the exact instructions. - Ed

<< Question #SG044 - Squeezed Pimple damaged skin

I had a pimple to come up like underneath my skin... a head never came out of it & I saw a white head kinda stickin out and squeezed it. Now I'm left with redish/purplish spot there. I figure it's blood underneath there. How can I get it to go away? Help please :(   - Chyenne, Bama

>> Answer #SG044 - Squeezed Pimple damaged skin

If you broke some capillaries, it will take time to heal and reabsorb the blood, similar to a bruise or blood blister. If the capillaries continue to leak, you will need laser treatment to seal the capillaries. Give it time and use a cover-up. If it doesn't go away, see a dermatologist. Never squeeze a pimple, especially the type you just described. You can force the infection deep in the skin and cause an abcess. Yeah, I know, we all do it anyway. But do be careful of those that have not come to a head. Those are the "dangerous" ones. Try hot compresses and drawing salve instead. - Ed

<< Question #SG045 - Uneven Skin Tone

I've got uneven skin tone. The skin of my neck, butt, knees are way darker than my original olive tone. One aesthetician told me use an 15-20% glycolic acid lotion but since I can't buy online I need a product from drug store. Which drug store product is good? What's your advice for my problem? - Respected, Dhaka

>> Answer #SG045 - Uneven Skin Tone

Over the counter preparations contain, at most, 5% glycolic acid. It won't work on slowing melanin production if less than 12%. Go to a large drugstore that has a pharmacy, and ask your pharmacist if the store has an over the counter cream containing both glycolic acid and hydroquinone at the highest concentrations available OTC. Hydroquinone works to lighten the skin, and at lower concentrations, the combination would work best. Note: 20% glycolic acid is very irritating and is usually started at a lower level, then raised as the skin gets acclimated to it. - Ed   (Skin Bleaching Cream)

<< Question #SG046 - Uneven Skin Tone - Dark Marks

I have dark marks on my face. I came to know about some serums which I can use to get rid of them. Are they really good? Can you please which serum is good to get rid of this problem and how to use them and where to buy them? - Sravs, Texas

>> Answer #SG046 - Uneven Skin Tone - Dark Marks

Any brand name product that contains Hydroquinone. Other ingredients being used to bleach the skin: Kojic acid, and Mandelic Acid. Murad makes a good product with 2% Hydroquinone and Glycolid Acid. Higher strengths are available by prescription only. Many good quality products can be found at your local drugstores. I'd suggest you stay away from Internet Promises on this one. Note: skin bleaching using creams take a long time. Plus, you have to put it only on the dark areas. Here's a somewhat technical article on skin bleaching. Don't let the long list of products mentioned confuse you. Stick with the mainly 2% Hydroquinone products, the only ingredient approved by the FDA as a "skin bleaching" agent. Note: these products are not cheap. - Ed   (Skin Bleaching Cream)

<< Question #SG047 - Dandruff & Acne Treatment

Hi. I get pimples all over my face due to drandruff. I'm taking treatment for it but then also the pimples are not going. Can you please give me some homemade remedies for it plz, plz. - Rakshanaa, Colombo

>> Answer #SG047 - Dandruff & Acne Treatment

The dandruff is not causing your pimples. Your overall skin condition is causing both the dandruff and pimples. You are treating your scalp, but not your facial skin. There is no "home remedy" effective for this condition. I suggest you try Proactiv. It is available online, and ships all over the world. Find it at www.proactiv.com It is a complete system for ridding the skin of acne, which is probably what you have. It is highly rated as an effective non-prescription treatment. - Ed
