small and haven't grown them back since. I am too self-conscious about my looks. How can I
get back my eyebrows, and quick? Please help me - Jenna
>> Answer
#HR001 Eyebrows
You're probably out of luck if they haven't grown back by
now. You may have to resort to "permanent cosmetics" - tattooing. Just make sure
you find a technician who is qualified, and can tattoo the tiny hairs in the proper color,
and not thick lines in black. Ask to see photos of their work. Ask for references.

>> Answer
#HR001 Eyebrows
I suggest heading over to a MAC cosmetics store. They have
these really great angled brushes which mimic eye brow shape. The people who work there
are also VERY prone to filling in anyone's eyebrows-- you might end up looking like a drag
queen!! So head over there, ask them to fill in your eyebrows LIGHTLY and it will look
natural & good, I hate when people use a liner or even liquid liner-- the line ends up
looking trashy and fake. - Erica

#HR002 Hair Color
I would like to know how to achieve blond from brown hair
without problems - Kim
>> Answer
#HR002 Hair Color
Pretty simple, actually. Have it done by a professional.
Don't go entirely blond all in one sitting. Have it highlighted instead, where they pull
the hair through a cap & bleach it in strands. Your professional will also add
"toner" to eliminate those "orange" tones that
"do-it-yourselfers" end up with. This leaves a very natural look, and you don't
get "over-bleached." As time goes by, and it grows out, you will need to have it
redone. Since it's impossible to pull the same strands through the cap, over time, your
hair will gradually get blonder. This gradual lightening is much easier on the hair.
Bleached hair should be conditioned regularly, less exposure to hair dryers, hot sun, and
especially to chlorine pools that can turn it to "straw", and sometimes, even a
little "green." - JP San Diego

Question #HR004 Hair Color
I dyed my hair with permanent black hair color,
I've decided to let the grey grow out which is totally "salt & pepper 4 inches,
my hair is long so the rest is black how can I strip the black out? - Las Vegas
>>
Answer #HR004 Hair Color
When hair dye is applied, it opens the hair
shaft in order to deposit the color. In effect, it bleaches the hair while it deposits the
new color. Stripping the color would leave you with orangy "bleached" hair. You
would have to professionally have the color stripped, and a color closer to your natural
color added. This would be fine if your natural hair was light brown. Since you are
"black & white", the best thing to do in your case is to continue to touch
up ONLY the roots using a NON PERMANENT hair color until it all grows out. If you avoid
dyeing over the dyed portion, the gray will eventually start to show through, as gray hair
doesn't take dye as well, and may give up some of the old dye after many washings...if you
don't dye over it. - Ed
>>
Answer #HR004 Hair Color
Your hair is grey so it will be easier to take
the black out. I've seen this case many times before. The easiest and least expensive
route is to wash your hair in laundry soap (yes, laundry soap) before shampooing each
day.You need to be careful with this because if you use too much at one time, or let it
set for too long, it can damage your hair. Also use V05 Hot Oil Treatments like no other.
These SHOULD help the fading process even more. If after a few weeks you haven't seen
improvement, consult your hair stylist; she/he will help you from there!! - Good
Luck, Brit (Hair Stylist)

Question #HR005 - Early Hair Loss
hi i am 19 years old and i am starting to
experience hair loss and i was wondering if there is something i can do about it like
change my diet (what kinds of food should i eat), or if there are some kind of products
out there that you could recommend. Thank you. DZ
>>
Answer #HR005 - Early Hair Loss
The first thing you need to do is consult a
dermatologist to make sure your alopecia (hair loss) is from early onset male pattern
baldness. There are many scalp conditions and medical conditions that can also cause hair
loss. It is important you rule these out first.
Diet will only help if hair loss is from malnutrition. Protein deficiency and some vitamin
deficiencies do affect the hair growth and quality, but most likely have nothing to do
with your problem.
Products that may help if you are suffering from hereditary male pattern baldness are: Rogaine,
and check out "More Hair" from http://www.universitymedical.com,
a product that claims to help block DHT (a form of testosterone) in the hair
follicles. Most of their products are available in retail stores. The list of stores is on
their site.

Question #HR007 - eyelashes
Do eyelashes ever grow back? I am 15 years old
and I wear regular mascara everyday, it's not waterproof and it's not an expired product.
However during the day if I do so much as touch my eyelashes, I lose a few. Every night
when I wash off my mascara I lose up to five eyelashes. This is really worrying me and I
feel as though I don't have as many eyelashes as I used to, but I'm really curious to know
if they'll ever grow back. I don't want to be 20 and have no eyelashes. I think they are
my most important feature. ~ Dinenno, Woodbridge
>>
Answer #HR007 - eyelashes
Hi, my aunt had the same problem with her
mascara. It turned out she had an allergy to it. Try switching to another mascara and try
not to apply it so much (like in times when you're just around the house). The lashes you
lost should come back. We are losing them all the time, I wipe away at least 3 a day (w/o
using mascara) and they are always full. GOOD LUCK! - Ashley
Editor note: Yes, she is right...give
your eyelashes a rest from mascara whenever you can. It is also very important that you
remove the mascara every night--and completely. Make sure you are not leaving
mascara at the base of the eyelash. You could suffocate and/ or clog the root.
Castor Oil is great for eyelashes.

Answer #HR007 - eyelashes
If you are losing more eyelashes than normal
with your mascara, it is too dry. Try soft and beautiful by Maybelline or Prescriptives
mascara from Holt Renfrew. throw out mascara after a month (that is the life span since as
air gets in the product dries up and loses quality). Don't pump the wand into the
tube, trying to get more product, this also dries the mascara. - E. Jay, NY

Your hair can be dyed back to it's natural

Question #HR010 - Shiny hair
How do some women get really shiny hair? -
Dsalas, Athens
>>
Answer #HR010 - Shiny hair
It starts with health - a good diet, and not
over-abusing your hair with chemicals and harsh shampoos. Make sure you get enough protein
and sulphur-containing foods like eggs. Give your hair a good brushing daily; lean over
and brush from the back of your neck toward the floor to increase scalp circulation. After
shampooing, rinse with white vinegar & water (1 tbsp to 1 quart water) to remove
chemical, hard water, and shampoo residues. Use a mayonnaise or jojoba oil treatment if
you have dry hair and/or split ends. Never brush wet hair and don't "rub" it dry
with a towel. Don't use a hair dryer unless absolutely necessary. - Ed
>>
Answer #HR010 - Shiny hair
After you wash the rest of your body, shampoo
and condition your hair like you would normally do, and rinse it out with warm water
first. Then, finish rinsing it out with cold water. This will lock in the
moisture in your hair follicles, making it naturally shiny. - Ariane, Surrey BC

Question #HR023 - Green Hair - Pool Chlorine
My hair is blonde and I was told that it can
turn green if I swim in a chlorinated water. If it DOES turn green, how can I fix it? Is
there a special type of shampoo to fix it or? Thanks a mil! - Lisa
>>
Answer #HR023 - Green Hair - Pool Chlorine
The greening of hair from swimming pools is not
caused by chlorine. It's caused by the presence of hard metals (copper, iron, and
manganese, in particular) in the pool water. Chlorine oxidixes the metals and bonds it to
your hair. Copper is the worst offender. The pool owner should have their water tested
& keep the metals within normal range.
If your hair is already green, purchase a shampoo that's specially formulated for
swimmers and contains either chelating agents (metal removers), such as EDTA
(ethylenediamene tetracetic acid), erythorbic acid, and possibly acetylsalicylic acid
(same as aspirin, and main ingredient in Scalpicin).
"Paul Brown Clarifying Shampoo" - to remove the Chlorine &
the "Green."
"Treat Elite Leave in Conditioner - to protect your hair in the
water.
"Ultra Swim" - claims to render the chlorine molecules
harmless.
Jason Swimmer's Shampoo (No description available).
Some swimmer's shampoos/conditioners may leave a "coating" on the hair.
To remove the build-up, rinse your hair after shampooing with white vinegar and water. Do
not over-use these products.

#HR036 - Dark Leg Hair
I have the darkest hair on my legs and I am an extremly pale
person so the leg hair is very noticable. Even when I shave the roots are soo dark it
looks like I have hair on my legs still. Is there anything I could do besides shaving and
waxings that would make my thick dark leg hair not soo noticable? - Savannah
>> Answer
#HR036 - Dark Leg Hair
The only real remedy is to remove the hair root and all. If
depilitory creams don't go deep enough to give you the results you want, then I suggest
using an Epilady. Pulls the hair out, root and all, but a lot faster & easier than
waxing.

#HR037 - Underarm Shaving
Whenever I shave my underarms, they are never completely
smooth-they have a darkish shadow to them and are covered in red bumps. How can I fix
this? Is there any cream I can use? Thank You! - Jennifer - Atlanta
>> Answer
#HR037 - Underarm Shaving
You might try switching to using a depilitory cream instead
of shaving for awhile. As far as shaving, shave at night, and don't put deodorant on until
the next morning. Use a man's shaving cream in gel form, and don't shave overly close for
awhile. Try switching brands of deodorants, and even going without for a day when you are
at home & skip shaving. Dust your underarms with baking soda instead. Give your
armpits a rest. The dark shadow is from the hair roots being very dark. The only remedy is
to remove it by the root, such as by waxing or an Epilady.

#HR036 - Facial Hair Bleach
I used Jolen to bleach my facial hair. Although I did a patch
test which had no adverse reaction, it did on my face. I have a red and painful rash on my
face. Is there anything that will heal it, and are there any formulas for very sensitive
skin (assuming that is the problem)? Thanks - London
>> Answer
#HR036 - Facial Hair Bleach
Purchase an over the counter cream containing cortisone for
an allergic reaction. Did you use the Jolene Regular or Gentle? Here are some
"gentle" brands. Ardell Invisi-Bleach Cream and Hair Off with Chamomile, aloe,
and Vitamin E.

#HR039 - Abundant Female Body Hair - Hirsuitism
I have dark hair on my upper back stomach and chest. My
stomach has hair on it that makes me look like a guy. Its not too bad but i dont like to
wear two piece bathing suits or shirts that show even a little of my stomach. I read about
something called Hirsuitism, i dont think that i have something like that but even if i
did i would probably not get treatment from a doctor because i really don't like to tell
them personal things about my body, i would much rather get a treatment that i could do
myself. Do you know anything that i could do to make the hair liter or even thinner? -
Springfield
>> Answer
#HR039 - Abundant Female Body Hair - Hirsuitism
Since you are a female and you have highly visible hair on
your back & chest, you very well could have a mild case of hirsuitism (and/or ethnic
background and heredity). You have a couple of choices for do-it-yourself. Bleach the
hair, or waxing. Waxing over a period of time can actually make the hair become finer. -

#HR040 - Blonder hair without bleach
How can I make my hair blonder without using hair dye or
going in the sun or to a sun tanning booth? Becky, NJ
>> Answer
#HR040 - Blonder hair without bleach
If you want to lighten your hair without bleach or dyeing
it's simple... Pantine Pro-V has a lot of products for lightening hair that are just
shampoo and conditioner that add natural highlights that fade with your hair and make your
hair look way lighter. You should try it. When I dyed my hair black I got most of the
color out just by using that shampoo...NO joke try it, its awesome!! - Laurel, Michigan

I have blonde hair and I used Red Loreal Color Pulse on the

about 2 1/2 weeks now. It has faded to pink but hasn't come out. How can I get this out of
my hair? - Kelley
