Ask your doctor for betamethasone. I've

on her elbows and the back of her scalp and it is beginning to become a sore and have a

Answer #SK032
Eczema - Child - Elbows - Scalp
When it comes to my son and his eczema, I use
Aquafor and a prescribed Elidel medication. I also bathe him in the Aveeno powder.
Everything looks pretty good except under his eyes. I am going to take him to the hospital
soon if it doesn't clear up. When it comes to your baby's head and elbows, I suggest
Aveeno along with the rest of your regimen. I love that Elidel however. It worked wonders
for my son. He's 19 months old. I was worried about side effects, but I tell you that none
has happened and he's not clawing his flesh off any more. This may not help but I just
want to say I feel your dilemma. Monaca, Barkdale AFB

Dermarest is a new
hydrocortisone lotion that has helped in the treatment of my toddler, coupled with Eucerin
lotion and creme as well as Aquaphor and prescrips. Also I have
heard that Vanicream works for mild cases (but my daughter has chronic
eczema, if such a condition truly exists.) - MD

Eczema - Elidel - Expensive
My son has had excema from the age of 5 yrs old.
He is now 9 yrs old. We have been to dermatologist, who tell me to wrap him up at night. I
think that's cruel. Please as New Zealand prices are expensive for Elidel,
could some-one please e-mail me, as I hear it is much cheaper in United States, or
Overseas for that matter. I will send money for all costs. Your help for my son would be
most appreciated. Kia Ora ra.. Francis. (Reina's mum)

Eczema - Elidel - Expensive
There are on-line pharmacies in Canada where
you can get prescriptions filled over the Internet. Canada is cheaper than the US. Keep in
mind, the shipping expense may cancel out the savings, in any case. - Ed

Eczema - Eyelids
I have been diagnosed with excema in my eyelids
which causes my eyes to go very red and itchy. The skin around my eyes are also red and
itchy. I have been given eye drops but nothing seems to work. I am desperate to stop the
itching and red eyes. What can I do?
>>
Answer #SK037
Eczema - Eyelids
First step is to try to eliminate the cause.
Very often "eyelid eczema" is caused by allergic reaction to air-borne
"fumes" such as fragrances including shampoos, face creams, shaving lotions,
deodorants, hair sprays, room fresheners--anything at all that has any kind of fragrance.
Has your doctor tried Isopto Cetamide eyedrops by Alcon? Do not wear Nail Polish!!!

Question #SK039 Eczema - Elidel
My daugther is 14. She developed eczema about a
year ago. She is really broke out all over her body.we have been to a dermatologist and he
prescribed Elidel and betamethasone. Neither of these
has helped. Is there a pill or shot she can take to help. - Jo
>>
Answer #SK039 Eczema - Elidel
If topical medications don't seem to work fast
enough, then try a 7 to 10 day taper of prednisone. Its a pill that will knock down the
rash in a few days. But you can't take it for long periods of time. Its only a quick fix
until it can be treated with topical medications. - Tina, Baltimore
Editor note: Prednisone is a corticosteroid (a form of cortisone).
