Eczema - Clobetazol - Cracked Itchy Hands
I am 28 years old an have married two years ago.
I have had eczema in my hands from my childhood. But after marriage it got more severe and
I used Clobetazol cream for treatment. But it got worse and now I have a
very very dry and thin skin and I can not use any moisturizing cream. My hands are always
cracked accompanied by itching. May you guide me what can I do to have more thick skin in
my hands and what can I use to moisten my hands for a few hours ? - Sanaz

Eczema - Clobetazol - Cracked Itchy Hands
My hands were just like you had described. I
work as a nurse and am washing my hands constantly which was painful. Putting lotion on
stung too. After many prescription creams, I tired Halobetasol. It has
been a lifesaver. It is a strong steriod cream so use sparingly. I found a huge
improvement even after one application. Good luck! I know what you're going through. -

Eczema - Clobetazol - Cracked Itchy Hands
I have had severe eczema all of my life I have
a few tricks that you may or may not have heard..... The steroid creams have limitations,
when your breakouts are bad be sure to get ointments. They are stronger. With any steroid
long term use can thin your skin and decrease the efficiency of the medication. Alternate
your ointments. I personally use triamcinolone and clobatosol. I also add Protopic to the
mix, it is a non steroid but can be very expensive. As for general moisturizers I use
Vaseline. I don't even bother with lotions. The Vaseline leaves me sticky for a time but I
do absorb it all and its the only thing that seems to last.
With my hands specifically, what works best for me is wrapping the areas. Whenever I am
home and broken out I will soak my hands (cool water), apply the ointment and then wrap
both areas with gauze/band aids and medical tape. It doesn't look nice but just one night
with the bandages on can make a huge difference. (Editor's note: try white cotton
pallbearers gloves with clear plastic throw-away gloves over that). Also I will wrap
up and then wear non-latex gloves to do any washing, cleaning or cooking. The trouble with
eczema on your hands is that it is very easy to pick up a staph infection which will make
it much more difficult to heal. - Melina, Denver

Question #SK042 - Eczema - Scalp
My mom had exema and when I was born. Hers
stopped and I had it on my ear and belly button. When I had my daughter, mine stopped and
she has it on her hands. It's now 13 years later and it's started on my ear again, but,
the distressing thing is it's on my scalp now. I wake in the morning with huge chunks of
moist scalp bits in my hair. I must be scratching at night. Are there any shampoos or
products that anyone knows of in Canada? Help..it's really gross! - Sandra, Ottawa

Answer #SK042 - Eczema - Scalp
Check with your local pharmacy to see if this is
available in Canada: Scalpicin. Anti-dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis,
psoriasis liquid. "Helps Stop Deep Scalp Itch". It's a clear liquid, odorless,
and you can take it with you and use it anytime, anywhere. Not expensive, either.
Available in any U.S. drugstore, over the counter. By: Combs, Inc. White Plains, N.Y.
10604. It is basically 3.0% Salicylic Acid (same ingridient as aspirin) in a little
alcohol and mostly water. Maybe you can find an equivalent. Not much to it, but it sure
works.

>>
Answer #SK043 Eczema - Tattoo
I think you've answered your own question.
Eczema skin is hypersensitive. Colorings used in tattoos can be allergenic. Plus, the
needle is "attacking" the skin during the process, which could set up an immune
response. In persons with eczema, this could in some cases be disastrous. You won't know
until you've tried it. Then it's too late. - Ed

any trouble with my tattoo. As someone else mentioned above, fragrance free lotion for
sensitive skin is advised, but I think that's the case for any tattoo. - Rachel, Madison

Answer #SK043 Eczema - Tattoo
I am female, 32 yrs old. I have several tattoos
and want more, but I have recently developed a mild case of Eczema. It is mostly on my
upper arms, but I also have a patch on the back of my neck and between my breasts. I
wanted to get a tattoo on my arms to cover the patches there, but my tattoo artist said
that the skin could get "RIPPED" and/or cause the Eczema to spread! So now I am
re-thinking all that. Anyway, I just wanted to share that info. - Flutter, GA

Question #SK044 Eczema - Hands & Feet
I had excema over 10 years now, and it is still
there. It is over my feet,
and my hands. It looks very nasty. It's red, and the patches on my feet and my hands are
wrinkly. I'm only 18 years old, and it looks like my hands are 50 years old. I don't know,
I'm stubbborn. I use hot water to ease the itch, but at night while I'm sleeping I
scratch, which leads to cuts, and rashes. IT'S HIDEOUS. PLEASE HELP ME. My excema is
improving, but how do I get the youthful hands, which I've not seen yet. Is there a cure,
by doing surgery? PLEASE HELP ME. - Joanna

Answer #SK044 Eczema - Hands & Feet
As you can see, by just reading through this
forum, that there seems to be no "cure" for eczema. Try covering your hands in
Vaseline & wear white "pallbearers" gloves to bed. Olive oil seems to
relieve itching, too. - JP

Answer #SK044 Eczema - Hands & Feet
I have had severe eczema for the whole 19 years
of my life. The best treatment for the itchiness is to NOT use hot water, it is the worst
thing for eczema, luke warm or cold compresses will ease the itch. use non allergenic
lotion on your hands, make sure there are no fragrances at all. Also do not use fraganced
soap, DOVE soap is the best to use. Just remember HEAT will make the eczcema worse. Once
you ease the itch and keep the affected areas moisturized the eczema will be easier to
control. - Sara, TX

#SK048 Eczema Relief Cracked Skin Ears
Hi, I have a similar problem where my skin just doesn't
stay moisturised enough!! Recently, like literally last week, I purchased Purepotions
Salvation cream if you've heard of it. Basically I was recommended it by my mum's friend
who has a daughter who has the same problem as me. (I get bad eczema on my face!). Its
basically a natural cream, and I admit it doesn't smell the nicest but it is sooo thick!
And it keeps me skin moisturised for hours and I don't even feel itchy after a shower
which is the first time in so long! The only bummer is its quite expensive, I got it for
£18.99 for 120ml...only downside, but if you're looking for something thick and natural,
this is really good. Hope this helps =] - Selina, Wolverhampton
