<< Question #SK060 Eczema - Childhood Eczema
I have a 6 year old son that has had excema
since he was about 1 year old, he has cracked skin, very red spots and it is all over him,
he has tried alot of prescribed medicines and alot of over the counter medicines and none
of them seem to help him. It seems like the excema is getting worse instead of better. Is
there anything else i can try? Please help - Richcreek

Instead of using salt put a handful of raw oats
into a stocking and use as a sustitute. It works better in a bath as the oats soak in the
water and make a wash. Also I used diprozone but found that because my xma (excema) was so
bad that the cream would not even reach the problem. Try wrapping your sons limbs in glad
wrap after putting on the cream, if you let him sleep in it it will sweat the cream to the
origin of the xma (excema). I know its uncomfortable but it really works. Also another
thing that is soothing and good for the xma (excema) is watered down sorbelene cream. Mix
it like a solution and pat it onto the aggravated areas. Also don't let him scratch the
areas as this aggravates and spreads the xma (excema), try to get him used to slapping or
patting it to minimize itchiness. - Renee, San Diego

Hi my name in Lucinda and I'm 15 years old. I
have eczema all my life and i am never goin to be comfortble in my own skin until my
eczema goes away. It is really hard going to school everyday with my eyes swollen and red
dryed patches on my face, i feel like i am a monster. i really want the rash to go away on
my face and hands because i can cover everything on my body but that. i went to many
doctors and they said the same thing" use mild soap, make sure the water is not too
hot, keep moisture on your skin" and so on. I used many steroids and cortisone creams
but what really works is Prednisone. You're not supposed to take it alot but like only
once a day for a week. If you got eczema on the sclap there is a soulution you can use for
it but it really burns basically like rubbing alcohol. Well if you have kids all i can say
just under what your child is goin through it is goin to get even worse when they are

To get rid of eczema, apply fresh lemon juice
to the areas before bed.. (yes it will sting but it works trust me) before bedtime.. The
next day apply cream (fragrance-free is best) then put Vaseline on your eyelids. Leave the
Vaseline on to dry off. At night, bath instead of showering, and scrub your face and body
with a lemon sugar scrub (one cup sugar and the juice from one squeezed lemon). Your
eczema should vanish in no time. - Maryam, Hamilton

Question #SK061 Eczema - Eyelids
In childhood I used to have excema on my eyes
(lids and under). I stopped using steriods as it was the eye area, but now I am in my 30's
and have gotten it back. It,s higher, closer to the brow bone and in the fine wrinkles
under my eyes(!!!). Its only been around for a week and a half but I want to stop it
before it takes off. I live in South Korea and don't want to go to the doctor here as they
use WAY too many chemicals. Anyone have any home remedies? The vaseline isn't helping
much, neither is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream - which is good to start the remedy. - Alex

Eczema - Ethnic Hair - Thin & Brittle
My step daughter has eczema and the doctor's
medicines helped, but her hair is thin and brittle. She is an african american girl and I
am white and I don't know what to put in her hair to help it grow. She is only 14

Eczema - Ethnic Hair - Thin & Brittle
You should see a dermatologist and have them
give you a medication called Topicort. This will get rid of the crackly
flaky skin and then have them prescribe Lustra-Ultra to get rid of the
dark spots that are sure to be left behind. As far as taking care of African American hair
you really need to purchase a book by Carolyn Gray called "The Black Woman's Guide To
Beautiful, Healthier Hair In 6 Weeks! The 2003 Edition" This is a MUST have for all
African American women. She goes into details about products and styling tips. I hope this
info helps! - Tosha, IL

Question #SK063 - Eczema - Shaving
I have had ezcema for 7 years and now it is
pretty mild and I like to swim so I really want to shave.I heard waxing could take off
more layers of skin and shaving seems to make it worse. What is the best way to get rid of
the hair? - Yvette
>>
Answer #SK063 - Eczema - Shaving
An Epilady will remove the
hair in the same way waxing does, except it doesn't remove any skin like waxing or shaving
does. It is more like "tweezing." A spiral coil rotates at high speed and pulls
the hairs out. An added benefit, over time the hair may become finer & more sparse.

Scars
Hi, I am 23 and suffer from the same problem.
A friend recommended Bio Oil to me. You can get it from most chemists. It is really good at
reducing scar marks. While some deeper scars from where I had scratched like crazy did not
go away completely, they were greatly reduced. Its also a good moituriser. It is
expensive, but the bottle lasts a good while, and really does work. - Katie, Dublin

Scars
Hello, I have had eczema for about a year, and
still have scars. I, myself, do not feel comfortable showing my legs - which are the
highly scarred areas. My doctor prescribed me a cream called "Aquaphilic
Ointment". This cream has done WONDERS for me with getting the scarring away. I must
say, my skin has improved in about a week. If you REALLY want to get the scars away, as
well as having healthy, dry skin I advise you do these things:
- Don't take hot showers/baths.
- Use Aveeno daily moisturizing soap & Dove Yogurt & Honey soap. The two
combinations moisturize your skin & lighten the scars.
- Use Equate babyoil gel. It keeps your skin moist all of the time, but use it while your
skin is wet.
- If you do use the Aquaphilic Cream, apply it twice a day. Morning & Night.
I hope this helps you! =] - Kamaria, Baltimore

Question #SK065 - Eczema - Face Neck Back Stomach Scalp
Hi everybody, my name's Gilbert D. Loera, 17,
and about to start my senior year. I have eczema on my whole face, neck, back, stomach,
and in my scalp too. It's sooo embarrassing to walk around anywhere without someone
looking at me and saying stuff out loud but I try not to think about those people. I've
been trying products left and right and it works at first 4 me but then just stops
working. I really want to try to find a cure. My typical day I wake up go to the rest
room, look up at the mirror feeling ugly and like no one wants me here. I see just a bunch
of crust that's dried up on my skin that I jump in the shower everyday and scrub it off
with a rag. It hurts alot and stings when I put shampoo and conditioner in my hair cuz the
soap just drops down on my face. I hate the dry scaliness next to my eyes cause I scrub
that and it stings really bad. If I want to go outside I put a hat or hood on to not be
soo embarrassed cause my head's all red and oozing. So plzz if u have the same thing as me
and r getting better plzz tell me k thank - Gilbert

Answer #SK065 - Eczema - Face Neck Back Stomach Scalp
Firstly, I believe you have a hormone imbalance. You need
to ask your doctor to run this test. Eat a balanced diet and make sure you add a lot of
vitamins--e g vitamin E. Honey is also very good to use--try it. But first go see your
doctor about a hormone imbalance. Don't scrub your face! You are actually doing more harm
than good. You are irritating it more. - Melissa, London

Question #SK067 - Eczema - Legs Itching
I'm having exczema for a year. It pains so much
that I cry. I tried almost every skin cream but result is nil. I have got it on my legs
but I found that washing with cold water relieves me. - Asheeran
>>
Answer #SK067 - Eczema - Legs Itching
Yes, never bathe in hot water, only warm. Have
you tried washing your legs with Head & Shoulders Shampoo (Classic Clean), rinse in
cold water, immediately apply Olive Oil (cold-pressed virgin olive oil). Rub it well into
the skin, not just wipe it on. Do at night before bed. Apply the olive oil (alone) at
least once during the day when you can. This helps quite a few people. - Ed

Answer #SK067 - Eczema - Legs Itching
I have had eczema since I was a baby. When I
started growing up my dermatologist recommended QUADRIDERM. It worked for my grains (?). Every time I get them or I
see they are appearing again I add it in my skin. In a week or so they are gone--all I
have left are those dark spots. If it burns it's because its killing the bacteria that is
in there. It really works. I hope you try it and it works for you as it worked for me. -

Question #SK069 - Eczema - Product Sensitivity
I developed an allergic reaction on my neck
due to a new skin care product. It resulted in tremendous itching, dryness & redness.
After a few products I tried Dermarest, which is working perfect, the rash is almost gone.
My concern is what do I use on my skin after it is healed to prevent any future problems
or just to not irritate it again. - Jan, Newark

Answer #SK069 - Eczema - Product Sensitivity
Use only "tried-and-true" products
you used before this happened, and stay away from new "commercial" products
entirely. Don't use anything with fragrance added!!! Use only products specifically
designed for eczema, psoriasis, sensitive skin, or for babies (if fragrance-free).
Here are some Burts Bees products for sensitive skin you might try. - JP
